On the Eve
Meet On The Road full text is available to read online for free.
Tomorrow is the day. The day I leap into the unknown, embrace the unpredictable, and embark on the trip to Sao Paulo. In life, no amount of preparation seems enough. Physical preparations are one thing, but mental readiness, which feels like the calm before the storm, is what truly matters. Soft melodies of Ketsumeishi's Tabiudo filled my room as I lay in my bed. It was a song that captured the essence of this journey - the thrill, the challenges, and the beauty of the unknown. Every note resonated with my dreams and aspirations. With my eyes closed, I let the music wash over me, guiding my thoughts and calming my nerves, and setting my spirit free.
Many use the term 'impossible' to mean 'uncertain.' I've faced setbacks - lost luggage and stolen money - but these incidents have only strengthened my resolve. I've come to realize that the path doesn't demand perfection; it only requires perseverance. Where there's a will, there's a way. If you support your own dreams, the universe conspires to help you achieve them. With this clarity, I went through the checklist:
Items to bring for the trip:
- The bicycle, Taegeukgi (Korean flag), clothes, sandals, and a hat - all gifts from Ricardo Kim.
- An old yet trusty backpack from my Italian friend, Davide.
- A map of South America, sourced from the bustling Florida Street, and a Spanish-English dictionary.
- Cash - Small bills totaling about 100 pesos.
- And most importantly, a heart full of hope and determination.
